Moscow would be willing to host a conference on the Libyan settlement similar to the one currently being held in Italy's Palermo, Lev Dengov, the head of the Russian Contact Group for intra-Libyan settlement, told Sputnik.
"If you want to reach agreement on our territory ... why not [hold such a conference]," Dengov said.
The head of the contact group said that Moscow began working on the political aspects of the resolution of the Libyan conflict when it realized that Libya strongly welcomed Russia's participation in the settlement.
"At the moment, the right relationship has been established because they see how we treat our partners and they see that Russia is the country that takes responsibility for its words and gets results. The example of Syria shows to them that we are not the country that comes to finish someone off, we come to save someone. And that is why the Libyans are hoping today that we will help them," Dengov said.
The two-day conference in Palermo was launched on Monday, bringing together a number of politicians from Libya and other countries.
