Moscow, Yerevan in Constructive Dialogue on Armenian Biolabs Activity - Russian Ambassador

Russia and Armenia are engaged in a constructive dialogue on Armenian biological laboratories where the United States could allegedly carry out experiments, Russian Ambassador to Yerevan Sergei Kopyrkin said on Tuesday

YEREVAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) Russia and Armenia are engaged in a constructive dialogue on Armenian biological laboratories where the United States could allegedly carry out experiments, Russian Ambassador to Yerevan Sergei Kopyrkin said on Tuesday.

"The Russian and the Armenian sides are engaged in dialogue on biological laboratories' activities. And [Russia is engaged in talks] not only with Armenia, but with other states located near our borders as well. This issue raises our concerns. As I know, the dialogue with the Armenian side is quite constructive, there is understanding on these matters," Kopyrkin told reporters.

The ambassador specified that Russia and Armenia were discussing biological laboratories' transparency, and the "presence or non-presence" of foreign military there.

"By the way, discussion with other states of foreign military presence is also planned within the Collective Security Treaty Organization," Kopyrkin added.

In February, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that it was concerned over Pentagon's medical and biological activities near Russian borders. The Armenian government responded by saying that the laboratories, which had been created using US funds, were fully controlled by Yerevan. The government also voiced its commitment for cooperation with Russia.
