The current level of Mozambican-Russian relations paves the way for stronger inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, Antonio Jose Amelia, the first deputy speaker of the Mozambican Assembly, said during a meeting at the Russian Federation Council on Tuesday
"It is in our interest that the relationship between the Federation Council and the Assembly will develop ... The existing conditions for cooperation gives the opportunity to develop the relationship between our parliaments and to continue the cooperation between our countries," Amelia said.
The Mozambican delegation is currently on a visit to Russia. The lawmakers from the two countries have discussed prospects for bilateral relations and interaction within international organizations.
The southeastern African country's lawmakers have a number of meetings on agenda to exchange experience with their Russian counterparts. On Monday, they were received by Federation Council Secretary General Sergey Martynov, who told the visiting guests in detail about the principles of work and structure of the Russian parliament.
