Mueller Seeks Jail Time For Trump Ex-Aide Papadopoulos For Lying In Russia Probe

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th August, 2018) US Justice Departments special counsel probing claims of Donald Trump camps collusion with Russia recommended on Friday jail time of up to six months for former campaign aide George Papadopoulos.

Robert Mueller argued, in a court filing, that Trumps former staffer lied to FBI agents investigating Russias alleged involvement in the 2016 voting in order to conceal his contacts with Russians and their intermediaries.

"The government does not take a position with respect to a particular sentence to be imposed, but respectfully submits that a sentence of incarceration, within the applicable Guidelines range of 0 to 6 months imprisonment, is appropriate and warranted," the court document reads.
