MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th February, 2019) US State Department's spokesperson Heather Nauert decided to withdraw her nomination for the post of US ambassador to the United Nations over her family's nanny, who has no work visa, local media reported.
The nanny remains in the United States legally but has no proper work visa, The New York Times media outlet reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the situation.
"The past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration," Nauert said in a statement.
On Saturday, the US Department of State said that Nauert had withdrawn her nomination for the post of the US ambassador to the United States. Nauert was expected to replace current Ambassador Nikki Haley, who announced her intention to resign.
