Nebenzia Confirms Next Trilateral Summit On Syria To Take Place In Russia

The next trilateral summit of the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran on the situation in Syria will take place in Russia, Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said on Tuesday.

"It was stated clearly in Tehran that this kind of work will continue," Nebenzia said. "The next summit will be held in Russia."
Nebenzia briefed the Security Council on the Tehran meeting on Syria held on September 7, which was the third summit of the guarantors of the Astana process.
The Russia envoy pointed out the joint statement by Russia, Iran, and Turkey sent a clear message to the international community that the three countries are ready to combat terrorism in Syria and work together to achieve peace in the country.
Maximum attention was paid at the summit to preventing civilian casualties in Syria, the envoy noted.
The participants of the summit in Iran focused on rebuilding Syria after a political settlement, Nebenzia said, and agreed to further increase coordination on the humanitarian issues and rebuilding Syria's economy and infrastructure.
Moscow, Ankara and Tehran have proved that they can find compromises in the most difficult situations when it is required, the envoy concluded.
