New 7.0 Magnitude Quake Strikes Off New Caledonia Coast - USGS

Another 7.0 magnitude earthquake was registered on Wednesday off the coast of New Caledonia, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 05th December, 2018) Another 7.0 magnitude earthquake was registered on Wednesday off the coast of New Caledonia, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was recorded at 06:43 GMT, with the tremor's epicenter having been located in 184 kilometers (114 miles) northwest of the town of Tadin.

Earlier in the day, the USGS reported that a 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit New Caledonia, which was followed by a magnitude 5.9 aftershock.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning, saying that "tsunami waves reaching 1 to 3 meters [10 feet] above the tide level are possible for some coasts of New Caledonia" following the quake.
