New Democracy Opposition Party Leads In EU Elections In Greece With 27.5% - Exit Polls

ATHENS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th May, 2019) Greek New Democracy opposition party is leading in elections to the European Parliament in Greece on Sunday with 27.5 percent of votes, while ruling Syriza is currently standing second with 23 percent, the results of the first exit polls, obtained by Sputnik, showed.

"These are the first exit polls as of 12:00 p.m. [local time, 09:00 GMT] from all pollsters. There will be two more polls. The data will be changing," the source who provided the results of the exit polls said.

According to the results, political alliance Movement for Change KINAL is trailing third with just 7.

5 percent of votes, followed by Popular Association - Golden Dawn nationalist party.

The source said that it was to early to draw any conclusions from those preliminary results.

"At the moment, we can say that the gap between the New Democracy and Syriza is around five percentage points. Many [people] are voting for small parties," the source added.

Polls taken before the vote projected New Democracy's victory over the ruling party by a 7-8 percent margin.
