New Design of Arctic.ru Website Shown at Arctic Days Forum in Moscow

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) The new design of Arctic.ru website, a special project of Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, was shown on Wednesday at the Arctic Days Federal forum in Moscow.

The site provides information on environment, the culture of indigenous people, natural resources, Northern Sea Route infrastructure, international cooperation, and tourism in the region. It is the only federal information project focused on Russia's presence in the Arctic.

With new design, the site has become more user-friendly, according to project manager Yulia Atanova.

"We have taken into consideration the experience of our users, did away with unnecessary parts and made it more user-friendly ... In addition, the project now has a mobile version, amp [Accelerated Mobile] pages and a new format, longread," Atanova said.

The website is available in two languages, English and Russian, which helped it become popular outside Russia, with foreigners making up 60 percent of the website's readers, Yelena Davydova, the head of Rossiya Segodnya's International internet Projects Department, said.

"We do not only speak about history, but also confront the challenges of our time, ask questions of the most prominent researchers and then transform their scientific language into colorful graphics, videos, or webinars. Every day Arctic.ru unravels new mysteries of the Earth's white cap in social media," Davydova said.

Rossiya Segodnya launched the project in August 2015 with funding from the Russian Geographical Society.

The Arctic Days forum began on Wednesday and is expected to last through Sunday.
