New US House Of Representatives To Definitely Pass Secure Elections Act - Senator Warner

The House of Representatives will almost certainly approve the Secure Elections Act after Democrats take control of the chamber in January, Senator Mark Warner said at an event in Washington, DC on Friday.
"With Democrats taking the control of the House, the bill will clearly pass the House," Warner said in remarks at the Center for New American Security.
The bipartisan legislation, which was first proposed in December 2017, aims to enhance the US Federal government's ability to respond to and prevent cyber attacks on election agencies and systems.
Warner stressed that the strongest objections to the legislation have come from the White House.
He accused the Trump administration of delaying efforts to safeguard US election systems, lamenting the idea that only another incident of meddling would force the government to act.
The US Senate Secure Elections Act bill was introduced by Senator James Lankford and two other Republican colleagues, along with three Democratic senators.
The measure was rolled out following the intelligence community's assessment that Russia launched cyberattacks against 21 state election systems during the 2016 presidential election.
Russian officials have repeatedly denied these allegations, characterizing them as part of an absurd and hysterical propaganda campaign.
