The new US sanctions on Russia are related to the Kerch Strait incident and were imposed in coordination with the European Union (EU) and Canada, State Department Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino said in a statement on Friday
"Today, the United States, EU, and Canada took coordinated action in response to Russia's continued aggression against Ukraine by imposing sanctions on individuals who orchestrated the unjustified November 25 attack on three Ukrainian naval vessels near the Kerch Strait," the statement said.
Earlier in the day, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on eight Russian individuals and six entities, including shipbuilding and energy companies.
