The foreign minister of Niger, Kallo Ankourao, praised on Thursday Moscow's efforts in organizing the first Russia-Africa summit, which is scheduled to be held in Sochi in late October
"I wanted to praise Russian government for the initiative it has taken to convene the first Russia-Africa summit in Sochi on October 23-24. It will remind those who have forgotten that Russia always remained side by side with the African states and it wants to deepen this cooperation," Ankourao said at a press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou will do everything not to miss the event, which will allow the countries to bring relations to the highest level, the minister added.
The first-ever Russia-Africa Summit and business forum will take place in the Russian resort city of Sochi and be chaired by the presidents of Russia and Egypt. About 40 heads of African states are expected to attend the event.
