North Korea Will Not Succumb To Pressure, Needs International Guarantees - Kremlin Aide

SOCHI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th May, 2019) Russia believes that North Korea will not succumb to external pressure and notes that Pyongyang needs international guarantees to carry out denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov told reporters after the Tuesday talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

"They [North Korea] need respect, they need international security guarantees. We understood from this conversation that the United States is in principle ready to continue the work with Pyongyang, despite the setback during the latest contact between [US President Donald] Trump and the North Korean leader," Ushakov said on late Tuesday, adding that North Korea would not succumb to any external pressure.

The Kremlin aide added that Russia was positively assessing the Russian-US contacts on the North Korean issue.
