MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd September, 2018) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is expected to pay his first visit to South Korea in December, the exact date is yet to be fixed, Chairman of South Korean CJ Group conglomerate Sohn Kyung-Shik said.
On Thursday, Sohn accompanied South Korean President Moon Jae-in to the inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang.
Following the summit, Kim announced that he had agreed to visit Seoul "in near future," with Moon later saying that the visit was expected to take place this year.
"Chairman Kim Jong-un said he will come to Seoul in December," Sohn was quoted as saying by the Yonhap News Agency on Saturday.
According to Sohn, the exact date and the itinerary of Kim's visit depend on the invitation from the South Korean president, the news outlet added.
If the visit takes place, it will become first such visit of a North Korean leader to South Korea since the division of the peninsula in 1945.
