TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) The first session of the Supreme People's Assembly, the Primary legislative body of North Korea, will be held on April 11, local media reported.
According to North Korea's official news agency KCNA, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly published a resolution on convocation of the Assembly on March 21. This will be the first session of the Supreme People's Assembly of the 14th convocation after the election that was held on March 10.
A total of 687 lawmakers have been elected to the country's parliament as a result of the vote, in which the turnout was 99.99 percent, with all the nominees securing 100 percent of the vote in their Constituencies, according to KCNA.
Voting is mandatory in North Korea. The candidates in each constituency are pre-selected by the ruling party. There is just one name on each voting paper. A voter may go to a special booth and cross off the candidate's name to vote against them.
