MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th October, 2018) Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the resignation of Staffan de Mistura from the post of the UN special envoy for Syria, said Thursday not all of his actions were effective, but added that the Kremlin hoped for progress in settlement.
De Mistura earlier said he would quit in late November for personal reasons.
"Contacts with de Mistura, you know, were constant, but not everything can probably be called effective of what was being done. But, in any case, we hope that the process of political settlement in Syria will continue, because there is no alternative," Peskov told reporters.
