Number of Anti-Semitic Incidents in France Increased by 74% in 2018 - Interior Ministry

As many as 541 anti-Semitic acts were recorded in France in 2018, which is a 74 percent increase compared to the previous year, the French Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Tuesday in a statement

PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) As many as 541 anti-Semitic acts were recorded in France in 2018, which is a 74 percent increase compared to the previous year, the French Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Tuesday in a statement.

"After two years of decline in 2016 and 2017, the number of anti-Semitic acts significantly increased in 2018.

Last year, 541 cases were recorded, while in 2017, 311, indicating an increase of 74 percent," the statement reads.

The statement noted that this number included acts of violence, murders, attempted murders, as well as attacks on property and anti-Semitic threats.

At the same time, the number of anti-Muslim acts is at the lowest level since 2010 with 100 cases registered in 2018.

The statement also noted that the number of attacks on Christians remained stable compared to 2017 with 1,063 acts in 2018 versus 1,038 in the previous year.
