OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) holds its 15th Regular Session and Thematic Debate on

“The Role of Human Rights in Promoting Good Governance” at the IPHRC Headquarters in Jeddah, KSA, 21-25 April 2019

Jeddah (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2019 ) The 15th Regular Session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will be held from 21-25 April 2019 at the IPHRC Headquarters, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It will be attended by all OIC Member and Observer States including their National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), experts from different relevant international and regional organizations, and senior officials of the OIC General Secretariat and media representatives.

The Commission is expected to hold detailed discussions on all issues on its agenda, including the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights in OIC Member States, the human rights violations in Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.

Also, the regular meetings of its four Working Groups on Palestine; Rights of Women and Child; Islamophobia and Muslim minorities; and the Right to Development will be held and decisions will be made to identify future plan of action of the Commission.

The Commission will hold a thematic debate on the topic of “The Role of Human Rights in Promoting Good Governance”on Tuesday 23rd April 2019. H.E. Dr. Yousef Al Othaimeen Secretary General of the OIC and IPHRC Chairperson Dr.

AkmalSaidov will inaugurate the debate which will be attended by experts from relevant international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program, UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights as well as representatives of OIC Member and Observer States including their NHRIs.
