ABU DHABI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th January, 2019) Global oil prices and security of supply, which on a significant extent depend on the cooperation between OPEC member states and non-cartel producers as well as US shale oil production, are among the most pressing energy issues of 2019, Sun Xiansheng, the secretary general of the International Energy Forum, told Sputnik in an interview on Sunday.
"The most pressing issues right now are security of supply, oil prices ... This depends on the cooperation of the Vienna alliance, on American shale oil production.
Another important part is consumption, it means demand. American-Chinese trade issues will have some impact on the global economy. These are the major issues," Sun said when asked about key energy issues of 2019 that should be discussed at the ongoing Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
ADSW is the largest sustainability event in the middle East held annually each January. The meeting focuses on major social, economic and environmental issues related to the world's sustainable development.
