One legal entity and two individuals could be added to the list of sanctions against Iran over Denmark's allegations that Iranian intelligence officers were plotting an assassination on Danish soil, Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek said on Monday.
On October 30, the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) accused its Iranian colleagues of plotting an assassination of an Iranian separatist group official in Denmark. Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen said that the covert operation by the Iranian intelligence would force Copenhagen to impose new sanctions on Tehran.
"We discussed possible reaction and there is a list of three subjects that may be added to the sanction list. [EU] general support was expressed. One entity and two persons can be added to the sanctions list," Petricek told reporters after EU ministerial talks in Brussels.
Denmark recalled its ambassador to Iran for consultations following the accusations. Tehran, for its part, refuted the allegations and summoned its own ambassador in protest of Copenhagen's statements.
