MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) Only one-third of Russians support the feminism movement, but nearly two-thirds believe that society should strive to make men's and women's rights completely equal, a fresh survey by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) showed on Wednesday.

Sixty-two percent voiced the belief that society should make efforts to ensure that men and women have absolutely equal rights, and 59 percent said that they should share the same responsibilities.
In addition, the poll showed that 33 percent of Russians do not want equal rights for men and women, and 37 percent do not think that their responsibilities should be the same.
A total of 32 percent of those polled thought that the equality of men's and women's responsibilities could be achieved in any field, while 53 percent said that this could only be possible in several areas. Only 9 percent said that men and women could not have equal responsibilities at all.
In the meantime, 38 percent of respondents felt that men and women can have equal rights in any sphere, and 42 percent said that this could be possible only in certain fields. Thirteen percent said that equal rights for men and women was an unattainable goal.
The VTsIOM-Sputnik poll was conducted on March 10. A total of 1,600 Russians aged 18 and over were interviewed by telephone. The margin of error does not exceed 2.5 percent.
