More than 1,000 Syrian refugees from abroad have returned to their home country over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Wednesday.
"Over the past day, in total 1,009 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 439 people (130 women and 220 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 669 people (201 women and 341 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in a daily bulletin.
At the same time, the Syrian Armed Forces' engineering units have cleared 12 hectares (30 acres) of land from mines, defusing 28 explosive devices, according to the Russian center.
The Syrian government has already launched the post-war reconstruction process and started welcoming back tens of thousands of Syrians who were forced to seek asylum in other countries. Over 84,500 refugees have returned to Syria from abroad since July 18, according to the refugee center's data.
