Over 1,000 Syrian Refugees Return Home From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Monday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Monday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 1,048 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 282 people (85 women and 144 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 766 people (230 women and 391 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, 70 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes as well.

Russian military carried out one humanitarian action in Daraa province distributing 500 food sets totaling 2.16 tonnes to civilians. Syrian and Russian servicemen also ensured the safe passage of part of a UN humanitarian convoy from the Rukban refugee camp.

Meanwhile, Syrian engineering units continue mine-clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have destroyed 12 explosive devices.
