MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 30th December, 2018) More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Sunday.
"Over the past day, in total 1,150 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 457 people (137 women and 233 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 693 people (208 women and 353 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.
The center added that 695 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes over the period.
Syrian engineering units have cleared mines on 10.8 hectares (25.6 acres) of land, destroying 35 explosive devices, including one improvised explosive device.
The Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation carried out one humanitarian operation in the Idlib province, where civilians received one tonne of bread and 100 blankets.
The Syrian government has already launched the post-war reconstruction process and started welcoming back tens of thousands of Syrians who were forced to seek asylum in other countries. Over 82,000 refugees have returned to Syria from abroad since July 18, according to the refugee center's data.
