Over 1,000 Syrians Return to Homeland From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Refugee Center

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd December, 2018) More than 1,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Sunday.

"Over the past day, in total 1,037 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 368 people (110 women and 188 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 669 people (201 women and 341 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

The center added that 925 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes over the period.

Syrian engineering units have cleared of mines 11.

The Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation carried out one humanitarian action in Aleppo, where 15 families of Syrian soldiers, killed during the war, received 15-kilogram (33-pound) food packages.

"Moreover, 331 civilians including 79 children received first medical aid in the towns of al-Salhiyah (Deir ez-Zor province) and Abu-al-Duhur (Idlib province)," the bulletin added.

The Syrian government has already launched the post-war reconstruction process and started welcoming back tens of thousands of Syrians who were forced to seek asylum in other countries. According to the refugee center, a total of 72,981 refugees have returned to Syria from abroad since July 18.
