More than 1,100 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Saturday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th December, 2018) More than 1,100 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Saturday.

"Over the past 24 hours, 1,147 refugees have returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 248 people (75 women and 126 children) left Lebanon [for Syria] via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 899 people (270 women and 458 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, 176 internally displaced Syrians have returned to their homes over the past 24 hours as well.

The bulletin added that the Russian Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation carried out a humanitarian operation in the city of Aleppo, delivering a tonne of bread to local residents.

Syrian engineering units have cleared of mines 10.3 hectares (25.5 acres) of land and 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) of roads, and destroyed 27 explosive devices, including three improvised explosive devices over past 24 hours, the center said.
