Over 150 Refugees Returned to Syria From Lebanon Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

More than 150 refugees have returned to Syria from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said late on Thursday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) More than 150 refugees have returned to Syria from neighboring Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said late on Thursday.

"Over the past day, in total 175 people (54 women and 89 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus, and al-Dabusya [checkpoints]," the center's statement read.

Moreover, 20 refugees, including seven women and nine children, have returned to their homes in the Eastern Ghouta area of the Damascus province, the center added.

The Russian side has also held two humanitarian actions in Syrian provinces of Aleppo and Hama, providing almost 4 tonnes of food to local residents.

At the same time, the Russian Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation provided a tonne of bread to people in need in the Aleppo province.

Since the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were previously seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this, and also provides humanitarian aid to civilians and is a guarantor of the ceasefire.
