MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd September, 2018) The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that they eliminated 26 terrorists of the Islamic State group (IS, banned in Russia) in Syria on Saturday.
"Air attacks - dead terrorists: 26, destroying a tunnel for terrorists and destroying a fortification point close to al-Baghouz," the Saturday statement of the SDF media center reads.
Near the village located in the province of Deir ez-Zor, the SDF militants also downed a drone belonging to the terrorists.
Last week, the International Coalition for Operation Inherent Resolve said that the SDF launched an offensive against remaining IS terrorists in northeast Syria.
The SDF is backed by the US-led coalition of more than 70 countries, which is conducting military operations against the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria and Iraq. The coalition's strikes in Iraq are conducted in cooperation with Iraqi officials, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the United Nations Security Council.
