The ongoing protests in Sudan have already left 24 people killed and more than 200 injured, Sudanese State Minister at the Ministry of Information Mamoun Hassan Ibrahim said on Monday
"The number of people, who were killed during the protests, has increased up to 24, the number of those injured exceeded 200," the state minister said at a press conference.
He also pointed out that all the police forces were focusing on protecting the protesters.
The unrest erupted across Sudan in late December over the rising prices for bread and general economic crisis. Residents of the cities of Al Qadarif and Atbarah were the first to take to the streets.
Amid the protests, the Sudanese authorities have introduced a state of emergency in a number of cities.
