Over 40 Buildings Evacuated In Russia's Khabarovsk Over False Bomb Threats - Authorities

Over 40 schools, hospitals, shopping malls and city administration buildings were evacuated on Thursday in the far-eastern Russian city of Khabarovsk following phone calls claiming that explosives were planted in these locations, a representative of the mayor's office told Sputnik
KHABAROVSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Over 40 schools, hospitals, shopping malls and city administration buildings were evacuated on Thursday in the far-eastern Russian city of Khabarovsk following phone calls claiming that explosives were planted in these locations, a representative of the mayor's office told Sputnik.
"According to the information that we have, a total of 46 buildings have been evacuated, including schools, hospitals, big shopping malls, including the South Park, and the city administration as well," the representative said.
Employees of Khabarovsk's 8th polyclinic told Sputnik that the evacuation had started following a bomb warning call at 11:15 local time (01:15 GMT) on Thursday.
Parents of children studying in Khabarovsk's 6th gymnasium told Sputnik that the school received a similar call at 11 a.
m. local time.
The government of the Khabarovsk Region said that no explosives were found in the evacuated buildings.
"Emergency services promptly arrived at the locations, and people have been evacuated. Building inspections are ongoing. According to the data provided by law enforcement agencies, the messages about explosive devices are not being proven true," the government said in a statement.
The regional authorities added that the evacuation had been carried out normally. Each building had safety information and evacuation plans, and their staff knew how to act in emergency situations.
