MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Over 70 members of the Afghan Security Forces were killed, while dozens others were injured in clashes with militants of the Taliban radical movement over past 24 hours in the country's provinces of Baghlan, Kandahar and Zabul, local media reported on Wednesday.
Thus, in Baghlan province 35 members of the Afghan National Army and 10 police officers were killed in Taliban's offensive against a military base in Baghlan-e-Markazi district, the TOLOnews broadcaster said.
Another Taliban's attack took place in the city of Qalati Ghilji, in Zabul province, where militants stormed an army check post, the news outlet added.
A Tuesday attack on the police forces in Kandahar province claimed lives of further 13 policemen, the broadcaster added.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable security situation. The government has been fighting the Taliban, which has been waging a war against Kabul for almost two decades, and the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
