More than 870 people, including almost 440 children, have returned to Syria from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said in its daily bulletin on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd October, 2018) More than 870 people, including almost 440 children, have returned to Syria from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said in its daily bulletin on Tuesday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 876 Syrian citizens returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states, including 93 refugees (28 women and 47 children) who left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints, 783 people (235 women and 392 children) who came from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the bulletin said.

A total of 26 internally displaced Syrians have returned to their homes in Eastern Ghouta over the period, while another 180 have left the Idlib de-escalation zone, the bulletin added.

Russia's Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov foundation provided one tonne of bread to civilians in Aleppo.

According to the bulletin, the Syrian government forces have cleared of mines nine hectares of land, nine buildings and two kilometers (1.2 miles) of roads, destroying 42 explosive objects, including two improvised explosive devices.

Damascus has won back vast territories that had been seized by militants during the over seven-year-long war. The Syrian government is now reconstructing the infrastructure across the country that has been ravaged by the armed conflict and steadily welcomes refugees who had to leave their homes and flee from the war.

Moscow is providing assistance to Damascus with humanitarian aid to Syrian people and acts as a guarantor of the ceasefire.
