Over 900 Syrians Return Home From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) More than 900 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Tuesday.

"Over the past 24 hours, 926 refugees came back to Syria from abroad, including 128 people (42 women and 55 children) from Lebanon via the Jeydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints, and 798 people (217 women and 404 children) from Jordan via the Nasib check point," the center's daily bulletin read.

In addition, 287 internally displaced Syrians returned to places of permanent residence in Syria over the past 24 hours, according to the bulletin. Over the past day, no refugees have left the Idlib de-escalation zone.

According to the center, Syrian army engineers continued their mine clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have cleared 10 hectares of territory, nine buildings and two kilometers (1.24 miles) of roads in the Syrian provinces of Homs, Damascus, Quneitra. They have also found and defused 55 explosive devices, including four improvised explosive devices, the bulletin added.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
