MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) More than 960 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Sunday.
"Over the past day, in total 966 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 257 people (77 women and 131 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [crossing points], and 709 people (213 women and 362 children) from Jordan via the Nasib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.
The center added that 250 internally displaced Syrians had returned to their homes over the given period.
According to the center, Syrian army engineers continue operations to clear mines. Over the past 24 hours, eight hectares of territories, one building and one kilometer (0.
6 miles) of roads in the Syrian provinces of Homs, Suwayda, Quneitra, Damascus and Daraa have been cleared. Sappers have also found and defused 34 explosive devices, including three improvised explosive devices, the bulletin added.
One humanitarian delivery was carried out by the Russian side over the period, with 450 food sets weighing 1.9 tonnes distributed in the eastern Deir ez-Zor province, according to the bulletin. Additionally, five wheelchairs and 38 sets of bed linen and necessities have been given to a maternity center in Damascus province.
As the Syrian government regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
