MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st March, 2019) Over 50 percent of Russian citizens do not have serious concerns about their relatives' or their own safety thanks to the current state of national security, the results of a survey conducted by the Expert Council for Security and Citizens' Relations with Law Enforcement Agencies and the Public Monitoring Center showed on Wednesday.
"According to the study, the overwhelming majority of Russians do not have serious concerns about their loved ones' or their own safety with regard to current state of Russia's national security - this is how 56.4 percent of respondents answered," Chairman of the Expert Council Anton Tsvetkov said during the VIth Russian National Security Forum at the Russian Civic Chamber.
He also stated that 13.9 percent of respondents had some worries about national security and only 3.8 percent had serious concerns. At the same time, almost a quarter of respondents found it difficult to answer the question, Tsvetkov added.
Respondents identified the United States' and NATO countries' policy toward Russia, international terrorism, drug trafficking, environment issues, food quality, and corruption as the main security threats.
The survey was conducted earlier in March among 1,600 adults living in 50 Russian regions.
