MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) Discriminatory decisions taken by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in relation to Russia harm the authority of the Council of Europe, a draft statement by the Russian upper house said Wednesday.
"The Federation Council members state that by taking a series of decisions on limiting the mandate of the Russian delegation the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) diverged from the basic principles of democracy and violated one of the most important principles of the international law the principle of the sovereign equality of countries," the draft read.
The statement added that exclusion of the Russian delegation from elections to the Council of Europe's governing bodies harms the authority of the organization.
