Warsaw, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2018 ) :Poland on Thursday detained a Russian citizen suspected of sowing tensions between Warsaw and neighbouring Ukraine and plans to expel the woman soon, a counter-intelligence official said.
"Yekaterina C. instigated activities aimed at consolidating pro-Russian groups in Poland and feeding animosity between Poland and Ukraine," Stanislaw Zaryn, spokesman for Poland's ABW counter-intelligence agency, told AFP without going into detail.
He added that the woman, who arrived in Poland in 2013, would be "deported very soon". The ABW said in a separate statement that it had decided to ban four other Russian citizens also suspected of "hybrid practices" against Poland.
The agency did not identify the individuals in question. NATO allies have accused Russia of using "hybrid warfare" techniques, including subversion, propaganda and cyber warfare, to undermine the West without triggering a full NATO military response.
NATO, as well as EU member states, the United States and other nations, expelled more than 150 Russian diplomats in March in a coordinated action in the wake of the poisoning of a former Russian spy on British soil. Having flatly rejected responsibility for the attack on ex-double agent Sergei Skripal, Russia retaliated with tit-for-tat expulsions.
