Polish Gardeners Seek End Of Russian Fruit Embargo

Poland's Gardeners Union asked the Agricultural Ministry on Friday to engage Russia in dialogue on the possibility of ending restrictions on Polish fruit imports
The ministry has held a routine meeting on how to stabilize the local fruit market. The Gardners' Union was represented by Witold Piekarniak.
"[He] asked to hold events on the European arena to try to engage Russia on the issue of canceling the embargo. We have problems finding other markets for our enormous supply," the union said in a statement.
Russia banned imports of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, fish and nuts from the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia and Norway in response to sanctions imposed on it in the wake of the 2014 Ukraine crisis. The embargo is estimated to cost them an annual $8.3 billion in lost profits.
