Pompeo, Saudi Crown Prince Discuss Syria, Regional Issues - US State Department

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the situation in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan, US Department of State spokespersson Heather Nauert said in a statement.

"Secretary Pompeo thanked the Crown Prince for Saudi Arabias support for northeast Syrias urgent stabilization needs, its engagement with the Iraqi government and its offer to help Iraq address its water and electricity shortages by sending desalination vessels and providing diesel for offline generators," Nauert said on Monday.

In addition, the two officials discussed the United States and Saudi Arabias shared support for peace and stability in Afghanistan, Nauert noted.

Nauert also said that Pompeo and bin Salman discussed United Nations efforts to resolve ongoing conflict in Yemen.
