WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th November, 2018) The United States hopes China will cooperate in addressing Iran's nuclear weapons program and other malign activity, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a press briefing on Friday.
"I also expressed our desire to seek further cooperation from China in addressing Iran's nuclear missile program and other malign activity," Pompeo said.
Chinese Foreign Affairs Director and Politburo Member Yang Jiechi said the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) must continue to be implemented and observed.
The US government re-imposed the sanctions after withdrawing in May from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement.
The first round of US sanctions were re-imposed in August and the second on Monday. Under the re-imposed sanctions regime, the United States has designated some 900 individuals and entities.
