MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 07th October, 2022) Pope Francis on Friday expressed condolences in connection with the deadly shooting at a nursery in Thailand and called it an act of "unspeakable violence."
On Thursday, former Thai police officer Panya Khamrab entered and opened fire in the building of a nursery in the northeastern Thai province of Nong Bua Lam Phu, leaving 38 people killed, including 22 young children. He then returned home and shot dead his wife and their young child before killing himself. The police said he was under the influence of drugs.
"Deeply saddened to learn of the horrific attack that took place at a child-care centre in Uthai Sawan, His Holiness Pope Francis offers his heartfelt condolences and the assurance of his spiritual closeness to all those affected by this act of unspeakable violence against innocent children," Pope Francis said in a statement conveyed by Vatican Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
On Thursday, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those killed and injured in the nursery shooting in Thailand.
