PREVIEW - Rhodes Forum 2018 to Kick Off on Friday With Focus on International Security, Development

RHODES (Greece) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 05th October, 2018) The two-day Rhodes Forum 2018 under the motto "Making Multilateralism Work: Enhancing Dialogue on Peace, Security and Development" will kick off on Friday on the Greek island of Rhodes.

Acting and former senior officials along with world known experts, business people and researchers, are going to discuss emerging trends and solutions for the ongoing global issues during the forum.

The list of key speakers will include European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, Russian Special Representative for the middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgios Katrougalos, Governor of the South Aegean Region George Chatzimarkos, UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa Vera Songwe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Russia Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio as well as Prime Minister of Guinea Ibrahima Kassory Fofana.

Panel discussions of the forum are going to highlight the issues related to foreign actors' presence in the Middle East, European and trans-Atlantic security architecture, economic inequality, democracy and digitalization.

During the conference two high-level events including the Leaders Club meeting under the motto "Infrastructure Development in Emerging Economies," and the Summit on Africa under the motto "Engaging Africa in Dialogue: Towards Harmonious Development" will be held.

Russia's Bogdanov will take part in the opening plenary session as well as the Summit on Africa. The Summit on Africa will focus on the ways to ensure Africa's sustainable development, Chinese involvement in the region as well as Africa's benefits from the competition between the West and Asia.
