PREVIEW - Russian President Begins 3-Day Trip to Singapore Tuesday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin begins on Tuesday a three-day trip to Singapore for talks with Asian leaders at two regional summits.

Singapore is hosting this week the meeting of Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as the 13th East Asia Summit.

On the first day, Putin will hold bilaterals with the host nation's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Halimah Yacob, with whom he will lay the cornerstone for a Russian cultural center and a Russian Orthodox church.

In the afternoon, he will attend a state luncheon followed by a meeting with visiting Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia.

On Wednesday, Putin will take part in a Russia-ASEAN summit. The leaders will discuss ways of promoting trade and deepening ASEAN ties with the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Prior to the plenary meeting, Putin will hold a meeting with Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Bilateral talks are also planned for this day with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On Thursday, the Russian leader will wrap up the Asia week with participation in a plenary meeting of the East Asia Summit, which is a joint forum of 10 ASEAN nations and the six Asia Pacific states.
