The Donetsk Republic movement, led by acting head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin, will occupy 74 seats in the 100-seat DPR parliament, while the Free Donbas party will occupy 26 seats, head of the DPR Central Election Commission Olga Pozdnyakova said on Wednesday.
"As a result of the DPR People's Council elections, Donetsk Republic movement won 74 mandates and Free Donbas received 26 mandates," Pozdnyakova said at a briefing.
The Donetsk Republic movement received 72.38 percent of the vote, while Free Donbas secured 26.
2 percent, Pozdnyakova specified.
On Sunday, the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk held elections to vote in leaders and parliaments. The two above mentioned movements were competing for mandates in the DPR People's Council. Donetsk Republic also had the majority of seats in the parliament of the previous convocation.
The Ukrainian authorities as well as the European Union and the United States have not recognized the results of the elections, while the Kremlin has pointed out that the vote is not a violation of the Minsk agreements.
