Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who has been sworn in as the interim Kazakh president, to congratulate him on assuming office, the Kremlin said Wednesday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who has been sworn in as the interim Kazakh president, to congratulate him on assuming office, the Kremlin said Wednesday.
After the resignation of former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Tokayev now fulfills presidential functions until the 2020 election.
"Russia knows you as an experienced government official, who makes important personal contribution to strategic partnership and alliance between our states, as well as to mutually-beneficial integration in Eurasia," Putin said in the telegram.
The Russian President also expressed confidence that his new Kazakh counterpart would further promote bilateral cooperation in the interests of the two states and the region as a whole.
