MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to the wedding of Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, media reported on Wednesday.
According to the Kronen Zeitung newspaper, Austrian security forces, including the elite counterterrorism special unit of the local police, dubbed Cobra, are actively preparing for Putin's possible visit. Cobra representatives have had several detailed discussions with Kneissl and her future husband Wolfgang Meilinger.
The wedding ceremony will be held at a winery located in the south of Austria's state of Styria on Saturday.
The newspaper reported, citing an anonymous security expert, that snipers would be involved in order to ensure security during the event. Putin will be accompanied from the Graz airport to the wedding location.
Putin has already held a one-day visit to the Austrian capital of Vienna on June 5. The visit, dated to the 50th anniversary of the start of Russian natural gas deliveries to Austria, included meetings with Austria's leader Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. This was the Russian president's first official trip abroad since his inauguration on May 7.
