Putin, Merkel Discuss Creating Russia-Germany-France-Turkey Format Of Syria Talks - Peskov

MESEBERG (Germany) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 19th August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed during the Saturday talks possible creation of the Russia-Germany-France-Turkey format of talks on Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday adding that the expert discussions of the issue would be launched.
In July, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the summit of leaders of the four countries that will be held in Istanbul on September 7. Erdogan said that the leaders would discuss the Syrian conflict as well as other issues. Peskov told reporters that the meeting had not been on the agenda yet.
"Such format has been discussed. [Putin and Merkel] decided that the dialogue in such a format would be launched at the level of expert and aides in order to upgrade the level of talks in the future," Peskov told reporters.
