Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl and financier Wolfgang Meilinger a rural-themed painting, an antique oil press and Tula samovar for their wedding, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin presented Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl and financier Wolfgang Meilinger a rural-themed painting, an antique oil press and Tula samovar for their wedding, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.
"Putin presented a picture with rural motives, because it featured the places that Ms. Kneissl's husband is from. Then he presented an antique oil press and Tula samovar. There was also the Kuban Cossack Choir at this wedding," Peskov told reporters.
The guests appreciated the performers' creativity, he noted.
In addition, Peskov said that Meilinger had previously practiced judo, which unites him with Putin.
"The spouse [Wolfgang Meilinger], like Putin, has studied this kind of martial arts," he said.
Peskov added that the Kremlin did not accept any criticism, in particular from Kiev, in connection with the invitation of Putin to Kneissl's wedding.
"The decision [about Putin's arrival] was due to the fact that Mrs. Kneissl had invited him to this wedding," Peskov said.
