Putin Says Government's Measures To Support Women In Russia Comprehensive, Multifaceted

ST PETERSBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that the strategy of pro-women affirmative action in Russia was complex and multifaceted, and included assistance for small businesses and, the development of education and health care.

Russia's national affirmative action strategy for women for 2017-2022 was adopted last year, and aims to implement the principle of equal rights and freedoms for both men and women.

"I would like to stress that our strategy of pro-women action is comprehensive and multifaceted. It includes the support for small businesses and individual entrepreneurship, including in the social sphere, support for volunteerism and NGOs, development of education and health care, and formation of conditions for the success of all active and motivated people," Putin said, speaking at the Eurasian Women's Forum.

He expressed readiness to share solutions and to utilize the effective experience of other countries.

"So meetings like this are very important. Together [we need to] create better opportunities for the self-realization of women, so that you [women] could build your life, provide a decent future for your children, and make a better world around you," Putin added.

The Second Eurasian Women's Forum is being held in St. Petersburg from Wednesday through Friday.
