The attack on a college in the Crimean city of Kerch is the result of globalization and widespread use of social media, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.
SOCHI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th October, 2018) The attack on a college in the Crimean city of Kerch is the result of globalization and widespread use of social media, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday.
On Wednesday, 18-year-old Vladislav Roslyakov perpetrated a shooting and bombing attack on the Kerch polytechnic college, where he was a fourth-year student. According to the latest data, 21 people were killed and nearly 50 more were injured.
The attacker committed suicide, and his motives still remain unclear.
"This tragedy is the result of globalization. We see that entire communities are being created in the internet and social media. Everything has started from the well-known tragic incidents in US schools," Putin said at the Valdai Discussion Club forum in the Russian city of Sochi.
The Russian president stressed that young people take fake heroism for real in the absence of interesting and valuable Internet content.
